TURNING THE

WORLD

UPSIDE DOWN

ONE STUDENT

AT A TIME

ABOUT

OUR STORY

Precepts actually began when I started teaching my granddaughter in my home. Then one day, as I was praying, God spoke to me and told me to start a school. Starting a school was not in my plans for that stage in my life, but in faith, I asked for permission to use a classroom in our church, cleaned and painted it, and added one student. We were officially a preschool and had a tremendous amount of fun. The next year, I added a couple more preschool students. There were times when I was a little doubtful, wondering if God had really spoken to me; but each time I had doubts, God confirmed for me from His Word that I was doing the right thing.

In the fall of 2018, Precepts Christian Preschool joined with Legacy Learning Academy, and we became Precepts Christian Academy, a branch of Aletheia Christian College. Dr. Diane Davis, Academic Dean of Aletheia, holds a degree in music; a doctorate in educational leadership; and has many years of experience as a teacher, school administrator, and instructor for the College of Southern Idaho. In 2019, Dr. Davis began instructing our teachers in the deeply biblical philosophy and method that is foundational to Aletheia’s teacher education program.

Precepts closed temporarily in March of 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, we feel that God has definitely been leading us in a new direction. In the fall of 2020, Precepts reopened as a One Room School, serving students through the eighth grade. As a modern One Room School, Precepts Christian Academy has become part of a nation-wide transitional movement from public school educational programs to more creative educational solutions. Aletheia Christian College, as a leader in this movement, is training teachers across the nation to start One Room Schools in homes and churches. (See www.aletheiachristian.org.)

Though Precepts is a One Room School, we have also become an integral part of a rich educational community that includes Precepts Christian Preschool, Liberty Christian High School, and Aletheia Christian College. We help train student teachers in the One Room School method, and we continue to work with the local homeschool community. We have a wonderful music program, and God continues to provide highly qualified staff with the ability to provide an excellent and truly biblical education for all of our students. From that one little seed, which was my granddaughter, we have grown to become a part of a powerful educational movement across the nation and even around the world, I am very excited to see what God is going to do next.
